I'm Old, and Sometimes I Forget What I'm...
Codger's Corner

by Raymond W. Platt

Back when I was a young man, children lived by two simple rules -- do what your parents told you and keep your mouth shut when you do it. Disobedience and sassing back had no place in the home or in public. Nowadays youngsters yell and scream and cuss at the drop of the hat. No one's ever taught them to respect their elders either. Well I'm madder than mad, and if my grandkids don't stop cutting me off, there's going to be some beatings. Just because I'm old doesn't mean some sixteen year old greaser has the right to ignore what I have to say. Sure, I get confused sometimes! You would too if you had eighty-three years of memories to sort through every time you wanted to tell a story. So I forget things sometimes. So what! Is that any reason to treat me like I'm not there? Is that any reason to cut me off in the middle of a story, or pretend that...

Fuck.

Never mind.
